Insects Hotel

This Tuesday marked a return to the field, and this time the participants rolled up their sleeves to build a real “insect hotel.”

As part of the EU Green Project, this activity aimed to bring people closer to nature in a relaxed and engaging environment, encouraging active involvement from everyone.

Before starting the construction, we met around the table to share knowledge on the topic. Through a small game, fun facts, questions, and idea exchanges, we explored the fascinating world of insects and their importance to the ecosystem, with a special focus on bees and their vital role in pollination, in the context of International Bee Day, May 20th.

After this theoretical introduction, it was time to put the knowledge into practice. Building an “insect hotel” made perfect sense as a follow-up activity. Participants began by collecting natural materials such as dry leaves, straw, reeds, and similar elements. With everyone’s contribution, these materials were arranged inside a wooden pallet, creating a proper shelter for the tiny inhabitants of our urban garden.

In the end, the result was very well received, and once again, participants showed great enthusiasm, desire to learn, and a strong sense of collaboration. Activities like this give strength to the project, allowing it to continue making a difference and inspiring those who let themselves be embraced by nature.
